The sun came out for a few hours today and it was a welcomed surprise! It definitely helped me get up and get moving. Thank you SUN! I hope you come out to play more often.
I hit the gym about an hour before my personal training session was scheduled with Kevin. It gave me plenty of time to stretch thoroughly and get warmed up. I walked for about 6 minutes and then started my run. And I ran and ran and ran some more.
I have learned to trick myself. Basically I play mind games with myself. I start out with the mentality that I’m only going to run for 10 minutes and when 10 minutes comes I tell myself to run for 2 more minutes. And this time I pushed myself even further. I ran for FIFTEEN MINUTES!!! This is the longest that I’ve EVER run in my entire life. Whats really funny is that I told Kevin. Sometimes I am hesitant to tell him when I run longer than 10 minutes because he might expect it every time. Sounds dumb, I’m sure, but its the truth. Once he finds out that I can run longer than 10 minutes then he’ll expect it each and every time. Anyways, this time I was ECSTATIC so I blurted it out!
I also decided to get on the scale today. At first I wasn’t sure if it was a good idea or not but I had to know. I haven’t been on the scale since last week and even then it was just a check-in. Just to see how things were going since there haven’t been any weigh-ins. At that point, last Friday, I was only down about 2 lbs. Better than gaining but still not as much as I’d hoped to have lost.
Anyway, today when I got on the scale, it said 202 lbs! It was 2pm and not 5am when I typically weigh-in. It was AFTER eating breakfast, snack and lunch. It was AFTER drinking plenty of water during the day. Does this mean that I might be under 200 lbs?! Did I FINALLY lose more than 50 lbs since I started personal training in October 2009?! It definitely makes me start thinking. All I know is that I MUST keep working hard and do everything I can before I weigh-in on Wednesday!
Kevin did a full fitness evaluation this afternoon. I’m happy to report that ALL AREAS improved and some improved dramatically. When I first started training with Kevin I could barely do 5 push ups and I had horrible ‘range of motion’ but today I did 25 – with almost perfect range. We also tested my plank. When I first started I did 30 seconds and that was being generous. This time I held it for 2 minutes and 18 seconds! Maybe all that ab/core work is finally paying off. Lastly, Kevin tested my Vo2 Max – its now 29. This is up from 22 in October. The skin fold test – 7 spots, were also DOWN! I guess all the frustration didn’t go unheard. Please body, continue to change and please scale, continue to DROP!
I am proud of ME! I can do this and I will continue to accomplish more. “Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels!”
In October 2009, I weighed 249 pounds. By February, I'd lost 35, and I'm still going. Bikini season's coming soon... will I make my goal by then? Watch and find out... but hang on tight! It's going to be a bumpy ride with lots of "Nic's and Bruises"
